Roundup Ready Alfalfa Export

We are often asked if the export market will accept RR alfalfa. The short answer to this question is “not yet!” We know genetically modified alfalfa might be accepted by some governments; however, end-users are making it very clear they do not want this product. At least not right now. Since there is no export demand for RR alfalfa, exporters are not likely to purchase it. Perhaps the export market will follow the lead of the US dairy industry and accept GMO alfalfa in the future. Other GMO commodities seem to be acceptable but not GMO hay. Time will tell. In any event, growers need to disclose to any purchaser if they are selling rr hay. If in doubt, an instant test will determine if a hay stack is genetically modified.

Alfalfa Wanted

ACX is always looking for alfalfa hay of all grades for export markets. Our export hay processing facilities are located in Ellensburg, WA; Wasco, CA; and Wilmington, CA. You grow, we buy into our inventory. The hay is later processed for export to Asia and Middle East markets. We have regional acquisition managers and representatives stationed around the Western USA. We like to buy at least 5 trucks loads of same grade product, but we will accept fewer loads if the freight is workable. We will also buy from the Midwest and further areas if the freight works. As with any deal, it has to be a win-win hay sale. You can send us an email, use our contact form, or call us at (800) 260-8384 for more information.

ACX World Ag Expo

ACX spent the last week at the World Agriculture Expo in Tulare, CA. The 3 day event was a huge success for meeting with agriculture vendors and suppliers from all over the US. We saw displays of farming equipment, dairy machinery, farming implements, supplies, and services, and much more. ACX will continue to be a part of this annual event, and we encourage all of our customers to try to attend in the future.
