Washington Weather Warming – 1st Cut Alfalfa Coming

Farmers will begin cutting between now and the next two weeks. After unusually cool spring temperatures in the alfalfa growing regions of Washington, the weather is finally warming up.  Except for some light winds and scattered clouds, the Ellensburg area is expecting abundant sunshine with temperatures shifting as high as 20 degrees. In fact, this weekend is looking to be mildly hot with temperatures expected to hit the upper 90s with lows in the 60s. This great weather means 1st cutting alfalfa is on the way.

Tokyo Meeting for Export Hay to Japan

ACX and other members of the National Hay Association Export Processors Committee (EPC) met with JFTA, ZFTA, and MAFF to discuss guidelines for preventing contamination of feed products with toxic substances. MAFF, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries conducted the meeting and covered an outline of procedures to be followed in the event of a feed incident.

ACX Pacific Northwest, one of the charter members of the EPC, supports safe hay import to Japan and supports helping Japanese importers in compliance matters through a multitude of electronic methods.
